I’ll admit: initially, I signed up to be a mentor in the Read to a Child program so that I could reread some of my childhood favorites. I remember the characters in the worlds created by Judy Blume, Beverly Cleary, and Lois Lowry just as well as I remember the real-life kids from my neighborhood. (more…)

Volunteer Spotlight: Lori Yaverbaum

ImageLori Yaverbaum has been a part of the Commonwealth community since 2001 and is currently the director of our Web Services & Usability team. In this role, Lori oversees all aspects of the layout and navigation for our web-based products and services and ensures the best possible user experience on an ongoing basis. She is one of a select few who were elected to a year-long appointment on the Commonwealth Cares board for a 2013–2014 term.

Gratitude for Giving Back: Our Annual Lunchtime Celebration

29GiftsEvery year around Thanksgiving, we like to get together a room full of our employees who took the lead on one (or more!) of our Giving Back initiatives for a lunchtime celebration. It’s our way of saying thank you for making a difference in the lives of others. Thank you for your enthusiasm and for your commitment to community. It’s a feel-good occasion, for sure.
