Relay For Life: A Doyle McMahon Family Tradition Since 2007

KevynThe Doyle McMahon clan has been supporting the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life since 2007.  As part of the Chippy’s Kids team, we raise money in the South Central Massachusetts Relay each September. Leading the charge has been my daughter Kevyn, who has been active in Relay since she was in second grade and lost both a teacher and a schoolmate to cancer on the same day.     (more…)

Providing Food For Families in Our Community

2014 food driveThis past August, Commonwealth once again collected and delivered non-perishable food to the Sacred Heart Church Food Pantry as part of our annual food drive. Last year, we made the switch from the Greater Boston Food Bank to a smaller church in downtown Waltham that helps support dozens of local families. We felt the food should stay closer to the area in which we work, helping to aid families in our own back yard. (more…)

Legacies Honors Legacy with Charity Golf Tournament

Layout 1Our father Jimmy passed away in August 2009 after a tough battle with esophageal cancer. Since one of his great passions was golf, we decided to keep his spirit alive by hosting a tournament in his honor and donating a portion of the proceeds to the American Cancer Association, specifically for esophageal cancer research. We have been running the tournament for three years now, and through donations and the tournament itself, have raised roughly $10,000 for this cause. (more…)

Ride for the Cure

This past weekend I participated in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) along with my dad, a few family friends, and some 5,500 other riders. Now in its 35th year, the PMC is a two-day, 192-mile bike race that is the largest athletic fundraiser in the country. This year, the goal for the race is to generate at least $40 million of donations for the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. (more…)
